Who we are
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. And when we say we, we really mean plugins that we downloaded, installed and activated, because it was advised by WordPress.
Anything you upload to the website should not contain direct or embedded location data (EXIF GPS), unless you agree with other users having or extracting that data. Be careful, there are bad people out there.
If you choose to subscribe to new posts or comments via e-mail, your e-mail address will be stored until you unsubscribe. Otherwise we wouldn’t be able to send you notifications for what you subscribed to.
If you leave a comment on our site (see the picture below) you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Furthermore: If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
If you edit or publish a comment, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the comment ID of the comment you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
In order to manage the cookies and similar technologies and related consents, we use the consent tool “Real Cookie Banner”. Details on how “Real Cookie Banner” works can be found at https://devowl.io/rcb/data-processing/.
The provision of personal data is neither contractually required nor necessary for the conclusion of a contract. You are not obliged to provide the personal data. If you do not provide the personal data, we will not be able to manage your consents.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site do include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, audio, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Here is an example of embedded content:
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. Indefinitely is a big word, but probably at least as long as this website stays up. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
